Obituary for Benny L. Spencer

Benny L.  Spencer
Mr. Benny L. Spencer, 79, of Sardis, MS, passed away on Saturday, January 16, 2016 at Baptist Memorial Hospital - North Mississippi in Oxford.

Mr. Spencer was born on March 22, 1936 in Sardis, MS to The Late Ada Belk Spencer and Vernon Spencer. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Sardis and was a United States Army veteran. He was a lifelong Ole Miss fan where he was a member of the Quarterback Club and The Ole Miss Loyalty Foundation.

He is survived by two daughters, Debbie Vaughan (Monty) of Batesville, MS and Robin Burlison (Ron) of Olive Branch, MS; one son, Jody Spencer of Sardis, MS; two step-daughters, Margie Casey (Donnie) of Senatobia, MS and Cynthia Sullivant of Batesville, MS; two step-sons, Joseph Legge of Tupelo, MS and Gerald Legge, Jr. (Sareeta) of Batesville, MS; fifteen grandchildren and six great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, and one sister, Brunell Boshers.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 19, 2016 at 11am in the Sardis Chapel of Ray-Nowell Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery in Sardis. Visitation will be held in the funeral home on Monday from 6-8pm.
