Alice Smith Neal, 67, passed away Tuesday, June 14, 2016 at Baptist Memorial Hospital – North MS in Oxford. She was born June 22, 1948 to Lou Alice Nason Smith and Walker Hassell Smith.

She was an active member of Sardis Lake Baptist Church, where she was always willing to serve in any capacity she was needed. A devoted educator, she was a retired elementary school teacher, having taught in West Memphis, AR, Munford, TN, Coldwater, MS, and was a substitute teacher at Senatobia City Schools in Senatobia, MS. She also loved reading, camping and the outdoors and was a member of The Wesley Foundation. She attended Northwest MS Jr. College, Lambuth College in Jackson, TN, where she received a B.S. degree and Bethel College in McKenzie, TN, where she received a M.S. degree.

Mrs. Neal is survived by one daughter, Elizabeth “Isa” Beaulieu (Brian) of Starkville, MS; one son, James Allen Stratton of Millington, TN; two step-daughters, Jan Daugherty of Sardis, MS and Joanne Woolbrink of Oxford, MS; two sisters, Walker Sahag (Ray) of New Orleans, LA and Jane McLin of Gainesville, FL; brother, Roy Hunt of Gainesville, FL and one granddaughter, Lily Beraulieu. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Neal and her parents, Lou Alice Nason Smith and Walker Hassell Smith, and her mother, Jane Smith. A graveside memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 18, 2016 at 10:30am in St. Peter's Cemetery in Oxford, MS.
