Obituary for Mary Carlisle Jackson

Mrs. Mary Carlisle Jackson, 88, of Sardis, MS, passed away on Thursday, August 25, 2016.

Mrs. Jackson, a homemaker and former telephone operator for Bell South, was born on January 22, 1928 in Sardis, MS to The Late Pearl Mixon Carlisle and William Gurvis Carlisle. She was a lifetime member of First Baptist Church in Sardis for over 80 years. She was very artistic and loved painting and making pottery and jewelry in her spare time. A devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister, she will be deeply missed.

Mrs. Jackson is survived by her husband of 65 years, James Vernon Jackson; one son, James Michael Jackson (Rita), all of Sardis, MS; one sister, Peggy Carlisle of Cordova, TN; one step-grandson, Michael Paul Ware; one great-granddaughter, Natalie Renee Ware; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 29, 2016 at 11am in the First Baptist Church in Sardis. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held in the church on on Monday from 9:30am until the service time at 11am.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Baptist Children's Village.
