Obituary for Hugh Lamar Skeen

Hugh Lamar  Skeen
Mr. Hugh Lamar Skeen, 78, of Coldwater, MS, passed away on Thursday, March 2, 2017, at Baptist Memorial Hospital - DeSoto in Southaven, MS.

Mr. Skeen was born on April 19, 1938 in Vicksburg, MS to The Late Mary Sue Davis Skeen and Lucas Lamar Skeen. A retired flight engineer, he proudly served his country in the United States Army and in the Tennessee Air National Guard before retiring from the United States Air Force after 42 years of service. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Coldwater, MS and enjoyed hunting, fishing and working in his yard. He loved his family dearly and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

He leaves behind his loving family to cherish his memory which includes his wife of 56 years, Patricia Kellett Skeen of Coldwater; two daughters, Marilyn Beatty (James) of Coldwater and Tracey Kelly (Chip) of Olive Branch, MS; and seven grandchildren, Hannah Magana (Octavio), Samuel Beatty (Claire), Bryce Kelly, Rachel Kelly, Emily Gargis (Samuel), Micah Beatty, and Collin Beatty. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Dorothy Ball.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 6, 2017 at 12pm in the First Baptist Church in Coldwater with Bro. Tim Smith officiating. Visitation will be held in the church on Monday from 10am until service time at 12pm. Interment will take place, with military honors, in West Tennessee Veteran's Cemetery in Memphis, TN.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105 or to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8517.
