Margaret Marie Scruggs Mahan, 88, of Batesville, MS, passed away on Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at Senatobia Health and Rehab in Senatobia, MS. She was born on September 13, 1928 in Batesville, MS to The Late Buena Vista Still Scruggs and The Late James Thomas Scruggs.

Mrs. Mahan was a member of First United Pentecostal Church of Batesville, MS. She enjoyed music and playing bingo. A very compassionate person, who loved life, she never met a stranger, loved everybody she met and was especially devoted to her family.

Mrs. Mahan leaves behind her loving family, which includes two daughters, Clara Jane Robertson (Butch) of Southaven, MS and Marie Jean Dunlap (Don) of Florence, KY; three sons, Alvis Lee Mahan (Kelly,) of Arkabutla, MS, Carl Eujean Mahan, of Looxahoma, MS and Jackie Carroll Mahan, of Hot Springs, AR; two sisters, Sallie J. Rikard (W.T.) and Gladys Jean Sparks (William); seven grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, A.B. Mahan; one daughter, Betty Jane Mahan, her parents and four brothers, Jesse Lee Scruggs, William Thomas Scruggs, Charles Edward Scruggs, Robert Lynn Scruggs, and James Robert Scruggs.

Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. on Saturday, May 6, 2017 in the chapel of Dickins Funeral Home. Interment will be in Cold Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Saturday in the funeral home from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. Memorials may be sent to Senatobia Health and Rehab, 402 Getwell Dr., Senatobia, MS 38668
