Obituary for Richard McGuire "Sonny" Wade

Richard McGuire "Sonny"  Wade
Mr. Richard "Sonny" Wade, 80, of Arkabutla, passed away on Sunday, August 6, 2017, at his home.

Mr. Wade, a retired Master Sergeant in the United States Air Force, was born on March 25, 1937 in Arkabutla to the Late Mary Lentz Wade and Richard Eason Wade. During his time of service, Mr. Wade served in Turkey during the Vietnam era and served as a medic before his retirement from Shaw Air Force Base in Sumter, SC. He was a member of Arkabutla Baptist Church and attended Evansville Baptist Church. As an entrepreneur, over the years Mr. Wade operated real estate, construction, insurance and roofing businesses and a restaurant. He loved Alabama football, enjoyed fishing and was a fan of NASCAR. He was a member of the Hillcrest Masonic Lodge in Sumter, SC.

Mr. Wade leaves behind his loving family which includes his wife, Kathy Dunning Wade of Arkabutla; five daughters, Lynn McAdams (Robert) of Hernando, MS, Barbara Reed (John) of Arkabutla, Brenda Mensi and Michelle Perez (Dennis), both of Bartlett, TN, and Mary Warner of Atlanta, GA; one step-daughter, Patricia Anderson (Kevin) of Montgomery, TX; one step-son, Ezra Steinberg of Tupelo, MS; one sister, Fran Franks (Dee) of Arkabutla; one brother, Bobby Still of Arkabutla; sixteen grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his step-father, Robert E. Still; his brother, Eason Wade; and one great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 10, 2017, at 1pm in Evansville Baptist Church near Coldwater, MS, with Dr. Albert Wilkerson officiating. Interment will follow with military honors in Evansville Baptist Church Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Tate County Animal Shelter, 909 E.F. Hale, Jr. Drive, Senatobia, MS 38668.
