Martha  Austin "Mimi"  Rogers (Birdsong)
Martha Austin Birdsong “Mimi” Rogers, longtime resident of Batesville, MS, passed away on Thursday, January 1, 2014 at Sardis Community Nursing Home in Sardis, MS. Mrs. Rogers was born in Clarksdale, MS on February 8, 1921, to Williams Austin “Boots” and Mary Lucile Cocke Birdsong. She was retired as secretary for the State of Mississippi Highway Department. An active member of Batesville First United Methodist Church, she participated in Chancel Choir and was a member of the Truth Seekers Sunday school , Circle I and the United Methodist Women. Mrs. Rogers is survived by four daughters, Phyllis Pardoe Floyd of Batesville, MS, Patricia Rogers Olive of Gantt, AL, Laura Rogers Welch of Sarasota, FL and Jackie Seay Pardoe Sergi of Batesville, MS; one special son, Brian Phillip Sergi, Sr. of Batesville, MS; nine grandchildren, Kim Bickerstaff (Chuck), Leigh Anne McGoven (Marc), Alison Stewart (Robby), Jason Pardoe (Jennifer), Brian Sergi (Ali), Ken Strain (Linda), Michael Strain (Gale), Stephanie Kotlarczyk and Casey Welch; and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two husbands, The late Willis James Pardoe and The Late Lawrence Rogers; one son, The Late Walter Edwin Pardoe, III; one sister, The Late Mary Lucile Birdsong Robinson; and her parents, The Late William “Boots” and Mary Lucile Birdsong.
