David Ely Dyess, 66, of Batesville, MS, passed away on Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at Baptist Memorial Hospital – North MS in Oxford.

He was born in Greenwood, MS on July 14, 1949. He was a member of Courtland Baptist Church. He was employed for 36 years with Tallahatcie Valley Electric Power Association and was also a member of Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA). He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and loved taking care of his grandson, Logan.

David is survived by his wife of 46 years, Margaret Harris Dyess of Batesville, MS; one daughter, Julie Darby (Brad) and one grandson, Logan Darby, all of Coldwater, MS. He was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Margaret Harris and his father-in-law, Ben Harris.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 16, 2016 at Courtland Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Cemetery in Pope. Visitation will be at the church, from 9-11 a.m. on Saturday, preceding the funeral services. The family has requested that memorials be sent to the charity of the donor’s choice. Dickins Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
