Nannie Laverne Lewallen, 81, of Charleston, MS, passed away on Sunday, July 24, 2016, at Baptist Memorial Hospital – North MS in Oxford, MS.

She was born in Lafayette County, MS on January 9, 1935 to Willie Lee Epps and Shuford Milton Lewellen. She was a homemaker and a member of Paynes Baptist Church.

Mrs. Lewallen is survived by two daughters, Shirley Wiggins of Charleston, MS and Linda Rico (Richard) of Pope, MS; one son Johnny Lewallen (Vikkie) of Cascilla, MS; one sister, Bonnie “Bonita” Johnson of Sardis, MS; and 6 grandchildren, Brandy, Amanda, Johnny Jr., Daniel, Dana and Hunter; and 6 great-grandchildren, Ryeley, Bentley, Alexis, Nikki, Clinton and Christopher. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dan Lewallen; two great-grandchildren, Mason Smith and Samuel Smith; her parents, Willie Lee Epps and Shuford Milton Lewellen; one sister, Martha Barbee and three brothers, Raymond Lewellen, Cyrus Lewellen and Robert Lewellen.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at Dickins Funeral Home in Batesville, MS, followed by interment in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 26, 2016 at Dickin Funeral Home. Dickins Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
