Maxine T. Newman, 88, of Enid, MS, passed away on July 29, 2017 at Baptist Memorial Hospital – North MS in Oxford.

Mrs. Newman was born on January 4, 1929 to Bennie Gordon Taylor and Jodie Taylor. She was a member of Bethel Methodist Church in the Teasdale community of Tallahatchie County. She loved flowers and especially enjoyed working in her garden.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Elmer C. Newman, of Enid and one daughter Anita Traywick (Charles) of Batesville. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister Maurine Rushing and two brothers, Russell Taylor and Gordon Taylor.

Graveside services followed by interment, will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, August 2, 2017 at Bethel Cemetery in Tallahatchie County. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TM 38105 or Bethel Cemetery Fund. Dickins Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
