Obituary for Michael Roy Putt

Michael Roy Putt, 65, went to be with his Lord and Savior March 30, 2018, with his family by his side.

Mike was born in Starkville, MS, on May 22, 1952, to Aylon and Betty Herndon Putt. He graduated from Starkville High School in 1971 and from East Mississippi Community College in 1974, where he was an offensive lineman on the football team. He continued his education at Livingston University in Alabama, where he also played football and then attended Mississippi State University and majored in business. On June 19, 1976, Mike married Linda Davis, who was his best friend and the love of his life. Together they have two children.

He was a dedicated Christian, a member of Como Baptist Church and a devoted family man who deeply loved his children and grandchildren. Mike truly enjoyed people, and spent his life serving others. He was a member of the Senatobia Optimist Club and served the City of Senatobia as an alderman for 16 years. For over 30 years, Mike was in the restaurant management business. Most of this time was at Wendy’s in Senatobia, where he enjoyed knowing every customer that came through the door. Mike truly enjoyed people, and spent his life serving others. He deeply loved his family, especially his children and grandchildren.

Mike is survived by his loving family, which includes his wife of 41 years, Linda Putt of Senatobia; one daughter, Mandy Putt Shipman (Steve) of Oxford; one son, Aylon Putt (Summer); grandchildren, Mary Margaret and Sam Shipman, Cooper, Emersyn, and Elliot Putt; one sister, Carolyn Phelps (James); two brothers, Rodney Putt (Karen) and Bruce Putt (Wendy); and many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Mike’s life will be held at 4 p.m., on April 2 at Como Baptist. The family will receive friends from 2:30p.m. to 4 p.m. at the church.
