Martha Susan Mills Deal, age 91, passed from this world on Wednesday, May 30, 2018.

“Marsu” was born in Malden, Missouri on February 16, 1927 to William Everett and Mamie (Berry) Mills. She married Carlos Lloyd Deal, the love of her life, in Malden on June 18, 1946. They enjoyed 49 years together until his death in 1995. Wife, Mother and “Memaw” were her most precious roles in life. Mom moved to Shreveport, Louisiana in 2002 to be close to family. She became a member of First Presbyterian Church and remained in Shreveport until her death.

Survivors include her five children: David Lloyd Deal of Las Vegas, Nevada; Nancy Susan Warner (Keith) of Highlands Ranch, Colorado; Stephen Mills Deal (Joanne) of Barneveld, Wisconsin; Carolyn Burchick (Joe) of Shreveport, Louisiana; and Catherine Anne Pepka (Ron) of Bradenton, Florida; also, left with loving memories are her eleven grandchildren, Rob, Jason, Lisa, Melissa, Katie, Elena, Joey, Sarah, Ben, Hannah and Michael, as well as her eleven (and counting!) great-grandchildren; and her beloved sister, Barbara Louise Liljestrand of Traverse City, Michigan. She was predeceased by her parents, sisters Virginia Elizabeth Baker and Patricia Berry Cooper; brothers William Charles Mills (who died in infancy) and Reverend William Everett “Bill” Mills.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 5, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Dickins Funeral Home in Batesville, Mississippi with a graveside service following at Antioch Cemetery, Courtland, Mississippi.
