Mr. William Marvin Porter, Jr., 60, passed away on Monday, May 16, 2016 at Rush Medical Center in Meridian, MS.

Mr. Porter was born on June 18, 1955 in Memphis, TN to The Late Carolyne Smith Porter and William Marvin Porter, Sr. He was a retired surveyor with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

He is survived by his son, William Matthew Porter of Forrest, MS; one sister, Tait Moore (Sonny) of Batesville, MS; one brother, Jay Porter of Batesville, MS; and his aunt, Sarah Smith of Coldwater, MS. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lynn Norwood Porter and his parents.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, May 21, 2016 at 10am in Davis Chapel Cemetery near Sardis, MS with Rev. Don Chancellor officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society.
