Otis C. Melton, 85, passed away on Wed. June, 29, 2016 at his home in Courtland, MS.

He was born in Crowder, MS on May 11, 1931 to The Late Donnie Mae Stafford Elton and John Leonard Melton. He was a member of Courtland Baptist Church and worked as an auto mechanic for Heafner Motors in Batesville for more than 25 years. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping. He also enjoyed watching boxing, westerns and FBI shows.

Mr. Melton is survived by two daughters, Judy Ray (Elbert) of Courtland, MS and Barbara Kennedy of Lebanon, MO; one son, Jerry Lamar Melton of Courtland, MS; one brother, Darrell Meltom of Pope, MS; ten grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bertha Louise Melton, his parents, one sister, Betty Lou Melton and five brothers, Doyle Melton, Roy Melton, William Melton, Odis Melton, and James, Melton.

Funeral arrangements will be held at 12 p.m. on Saturday, July 2, 2016 at Dickins Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Magnolia Cemetery in Batesville . Visitation will be held from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be sent to Courtland Baptist Church, 134 E. Railroad St., Courtland, MS 38620.
