Obituary for Eleanor "EL" Jessee Kairit (Colburn)

Eleanor “EL” Jesse Colburn Kairit, 90, of Batesville, MS, passed away May 24, 2014 at Tri-Lakes Medical Center in Batesville.

She was an active member of Como United Methodist Church, a member of the Church Ladies Club and Como Civic Club. She worked at London Clothing during WWII. In October, 1945, she married John W. Kairit of Bridgewater, MA, where she farmed with her husband for twenty-five years, worked in insurance, served as assistant town clerk and was elected to the school committee for Bridgewater schools. Her hobbies included sewing, cooking, reading, gardening, playing cards, dancing and babysitting.

Mrs. Kairit is survived by one daughter, Judith E. Carter (Charles) of Batesville, MS; one son William “Bill” Kairit (Bonnie) of Batesville, MS; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty years, The Late John W. Kairit three sisters, The Late Florence Owen, Leona Ficher, and Wilma Sheehan; and her parents The Late Elmer Edwin Colburn and Jean Agnes McLean Colburn. Memorial contributions may be sent to Como United Methodist Church, Como, MS. Dickins Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
